General Membership Meeting Scheduled

The 2001 membership meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 21st, 2001. All current members are encouraged to attend and to bring a friend.

On the agenda for the meeting will be discussions regarding the past year’s performances, the upcoming season, and elections for board members. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard and to learn how you can help to make The Players a better forum for community theater.

The meeting will take place at the Strawberry Ridge Apartment Complex on Fonda Road in Waterford. The membership will meet in the complex’s clubhouse. For directions or further information regarding the meeting, please call the Players line at

Wizard of Oz to Blow into Troy

Audition Dates Set for Summer Show

In keeping with its long-standing tradition of affordable theater for the whole family, the Players will be presenting its eighth annual summer show, The Wizard of Oz. And, as in previous years, the show will be free to the public.

With all the favorite characters everyone loves, and music everyone can sing along to, The Wizard of Oz promises to entertain the masses.

Be Ready to Jitterbug…

Auditions for The Wizard of Oz will be held Wednesday, May 30th and Thursday May 31st. There are parts for ages 8 and up. Auditions for ages 8-14 will begin at 7:00pm, all others will begin at 8:00pm. Auditions will be held in the Maureen Stapleton Theater. Show dates are July 20-22 and 25-29.

Doris Nock Scholarship Awarded

This year’s Doris Nock Memorial Scholarship was given to Sandra Bauchiero. The Award is designed to go to a person between grade school and college who has worked with the Players and is continuing his/her education in theater.

Doris was a founding member of the Players in 1994 and past away in February 2000. The scholarship fund was established by her husband Al.

The Players Around Town

If you went anywhere in the Capital District to see a show this past year, there’s a good chance you saw some of your fellow Players gracing the stages of other theaters in the area. Here’s just a partial list of what some of your friends were caught doing…

Player’s treasurer Linda Mizeur was in Home Made Theater’s "Our Town"

Connie Boschwitz, Players’ secretary was busy in The Music Man at Park Playhouse, The Nursery with Broken Leg Players, and ShowBoat Memories with the Highlight Acting Troupe.

After playing Sydney Lipton in the Players production of God’s Favorite, board member Dave Marcil then took on the role of Joe Benjamin in the same show with the Jewish Community Center in Schenectady. He was also featured in Chess with the RPI Players.

Just returning from traveling the Northeast with NYSTI’s production of A Tale of Cinderella, Sandra Bauchiero was also involved with NYSTI’s Miracle on 34th Street and Children’s Hour at Russell Sage.

John Quinan and Matt Kennedy teamed up twice this past season in both Eggs for Easter, A Bunny’s Tale at the Egg and Spreading the News with Circle Theater. John also performed in Rising of the Moon with Circle Players. And is his free time, John stage-managed The Last Night of Ballyhoo and AfterPlay at Schenectady Civic Players.

Andrea Valenti was featured in Schenectady Civic’s AfterPlay.

Besides graduating from RPI with a degree in the EMAC program, Brian Agosta performed as the Emcee in a Cabaret Show at Mother’s Wine Emporium at RPI and will be featured in Albany Civic’s Directors Showcase performance of Who Am I This Time with co-Player Aaron Holbritter. Aaron was also featured in The Last Night of Ballyhoo at SCP and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde at ACT.

Regina Riccardi performed in Charleston with CDYC.

Jen Edwards played Patti Simcox in Cohoes HS’s Grease.

At Shenendahowa, Nicole Lodowski performed in Into The Woods.

On the movie scene, Rie Lee and John Bauchiero participated in the filming of Time Machine and Pierre Radimak was on the set of The Palace Thief.
